Major Hat Tip to B. Bolsøy Oslo---I don't know how I missed this....from F-16.net.
"This mission systems aircraft adds a new dimension to the F-35 flight testing under way at PAX River," said Tom Burbage, Lockheed Martin executive vice president and general manager of F-35 Program Integration. "Now, in addition to validating the aerodynamic capabilities and flying qualities of these jets, we will have the opportunity to confirm the performance of what we expect to be a transcendent avionics capability – the most capable ever in a fighter." A fifth F-35B, along with the first Navy carrier variant, is expected to join the fleet later this year at Patuxent River.I was promised that I was on their mailing list. Time to send a nasty gram to Lockheed Martin!
They seemed to keep this one pretty quiet. I knew it got to Pax yesterday, but I did not see anything about it before I went to work this morning.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see the first mission system bird out flying. The flight sciences birds are important, but this is the real meat of F-35, mission systems and its data fusion capabilities.
yeah it is GREAT news but i see Burbage is talking again. failed leaders at any level should get in a corner and shut the fuck up.
ReplyDeleteBurbage is in that group of people.
Here Here!
ReplyDeleteIf there were any justice LM would have shit-canned him when they didn't get paid.
$680 mil is a lot of dough. Even for Lockheed.
you damn right it is.
ReplyDeletei love the plane but the program still irks me. i don't think its been run right and the Marine General that got shit on by Gates was just a scape goat.
like i said i luv the plane but i think that a few more 'balls' should have been busted..
they practically set the table for the planes critics. hell they even made me pause with all the bullshit they were feeding.
one thing is clear. if they fuck it up this time-- its program over.
All too true.
ReplyDeleteJSF is on almost V-22 levels of thin ice.
