Relationships evolve over time. What was hot and steamy can become cold. Is this what is happening with the US and the UK???? They are part of the EU and the pull of that institution over the UK was bound to alter our relationship. Perhaps we should simply part as friends? Read this from SkyNews and be amazed at the British Prime Minister's defence (yeah I used the British spelling) of British Petroleum (let's use their legacy name not just the new incarnation).

ReplyDeleteWorth pointing out that the majority of shareholders in BP are American, The majority of BP employees are American and an awful lot off the tax from profits goes to America and pays for alot of American pension funds! BP has evolved an awful lot from its roots. Not trying to dodge any 'blame' etc, alot of very stupid decisions have been made that have had awful results. Just sayin though!

where do you get that the majority of shareholders are American. a quick Google search revealed that the majority is in the UK.

as far as pensions are concerned that is again (according to my Google search) a UK issue.

from Israel (which i was a huge supporter of) to the UK...to the blood, money and treasure sucking Iraqi's and Afghans, i've reached a point where its time for America to look out only for America....fuck the world.

ReplyDeletethat's a rogue company that has engaged in poor safety practices and has spoiled and fouled a large portion of the waters off the coast of the US.
you want fairness? imagine what all the tree huggers in Europe would be doing if this happened in the North Sea! they'd be going ballistic and the EU would sue the company into receivership. i don't feel for BP at all and the best thing that could happen to those crooks is for the company to fail...actually it already has but just like the Lockerbie bomber, UK officials will see that its freed and will never pay the price for its crimes.

With regards to pensions, its in Uk media alot because of the way our whole pension system has been f*cked by our previous government. Makes a good news filler for all parts of the media. Your countrymen, wehter employees or indiviuals supplementing income etc will feel the pain soon enough.
With regards to employee breakdown, this i got from UK print media as the political 'blame game' got going a couple of weeks into the disaster.
As for Bs being shoveled around, what do you expect from the political class? it's a two way street and has it ever been any diferent, espially when their jobs are on the line?!!!
As for Rouge company, i completely agree with you! Fairness, life aint fair, and the EU probably would, but then where would they get the resources and expertise to clean up the mess? In one sense the Gulf is very luck BP is a multinational and not a British company, because it would have gone bust and the US taxpayer would have been left to foot the whole bill.
Lockerbie, fair enough. Not wanting to get to personal though, how many British servicemen died thanks to funding provided by US citizens to the IRA, how many of those killers roam free in the US because US politics cant deal with handing them over?
