Height and Weight Standards.

The Navy might want to revise their height and weight standards...
Note:
I was conflicted on whether or not to post this but come on.  This guy is a Naval Officer and is definitely not presenting a proper military appearance....and they're putting him front and center before the public.  Yeah, they need to revise it and put this guy on some type of remedial PT program.

  1. One could LOOK at it as a great ad for NAVY CHOW; which sure struck my taste buds as far better than our USMC uh...."food"; based on several months TAD at NWC China Lake.

PT? That Officer has never ever heard of it! DFO

  2. I volunteered yesterday at the VA Wheelchair Games (in Denver). Most of us volunteers were prior service civis--worked alongside a Korea War master chief! We helped get the vets off the planes and into their chairs.

Anyway there were a few active there, mostly airmen and soldiers, and I can say that the Navy isn't the only branch having issues.

At 33, I was in better shape than most of the young soldiers and airmen. There were a few Army NCOs back from deployment that were in great shape though!

I wondered how two (SPCs) of the fatties even fit into their cammies!

I think the divide, along with the standards, between combat and non-combat is growing. This is foreign for me as we had one standard (okay we had a second one for female Marines, but we're not allowed to talk about that, right?). Even the pogies had to measure up just to wear the uniform.

What the hell is happening?!? Are these relaxed PT standards intentional?

  3. hey all....i don't know what this guys deal is.

like i said i was a bit hesitant to post it along with the caption but i mean REALLY!

i'm with you Anonymous and Resident Author...this guy doesn't know what physical fitness is and the divide between the trigger pullers and those that don't is growing. i think that's why the Marine Corps emphasizes that everyone is a Rifleman...the divide is still there but the standards force everyone to at least have a grunt mindset in every MOS.

the Navy needs to set this guy straight and quick.
