depressingly, its inevitable
ReplyDeleteI think I mentioned before, nobody in the uk armed forces actually cares one way or the other, we are pretty tolerant bunch, but its the 'special treatment' that raises the hackles.
We have lads out in theatre that are suffering for a lack of almost everything, you lot don't call us the borrowers for nothing do you!
And here we have money being spent on this
on that we part company. i don't think anything is inevitable. we have choices and even at the point where events are set in stone, we had chances to alter the outcome in the steps leading up to that point.
ReplyDeleteits just a matter of being aware of the issue. i posted this tongue in cheek, everyone knows my opinion on this subject, so no need to restate it...this was suppose to be more of a wakeup call for the US.
In answer to your question: yes, it probably is. Better get used to the idea.
ReplyDeletebullshit. don't tell me what to get used to. i reject it totally.
ReplyDeletei just don't know how anyone who has ever served in a line company that can say, yeah this is a good idea. people will get jacked up. this will be more disruptive than racial integration. why? because you had a group of people that were identified by there skin color being brought into the service and given there equal rights. cool.
now you're asking for people whos only identifying quality is who they choose to have sex with getting special rights. its bullshit.
What special rights are they asking for?
ReplyDeleteby having there sexuality classified as a minority right they're asking for special treatment.
ReplyDeletedon't ask, don't tell isn't good enough. we have to accept the fact that the guy in the fox hole with a straight military member is sexually attracted to men. if this is the new standard then co-ed...i mean fully co-ed as in men and women dressing and sleeping together is not a problem...and you know what i mean...not romantic involvement but rather too total strangers.
but you don't get it so i'm done with this. enjoy your liberal viewpoint but this disgusts me.
Well, Solomon, I wasn't really trying to change your mind; I know how you feel about all this. My point is that this change is almost certainly inevitable, so the question is: how will the services adjust?
ReplyDeletethats not what you said. what you said was to get used to it.
ReplyDeletewhat you pressed me on was that these people, whos claim to minority status is sexuality...nothing more, should be given special rights.
trust me Johnathan, the US population is divided like you would not believe on a number of social, political and economic issues. many (myself included) feel like liberalism has gone too far.
many are tired of being told to deal with things that they are vehemently opposed to.
i wouldn't be surprised to see Greece like riots here if things get just a bit worse or if another Health care type bill is passed that isn't in line with the majority opinion of the citizens.
