  3. hey just got a question here, whats that intake shape thing on top of the left intake of this poster, and it's also on your blog theme photo?

  4. Hey Tingler,

The technical term for this inlet above the starboard air intake, is the "Air Cooled Fuel Cooler heat exchanger bay". (ACFC).

The F-35 uses it's on-board fuel to help cool down the extensive internal electronics (don't let anyone try and tell you the F-35 has no EW capability, it doesn't need that extensive fuel cooling system to cool the pilot...)

This inlet provides cool air for the heat exchanger that offloads the heat from the fuel.

    Cheers,

  7. @AD,

    Thanks!
Yeah I know that the F35 used the fuel to as a liquid substance to cool down the system. Just didn't know that was it. Seems like it's from the redesign period. the graphs and everything else mostly on the net didn't mention it. Haha F35 EW capability? I know it does have it, but we'll see how it goes since it hasn't become a fact yet.... one pilot controlling everything? I wonder how automated the system will be.

    Thanks again.
