cool. I'd love to see a video of it in action.
ReplyDeleteHere's a good PPT showing the Marines plans for EFSS - www.ndiapicatinny.com/downloads/2009/mc/EFSS.ppt
I wonder if the EFFS be able to fire the new precision mortars with ATK's MGK (Mortar Guidance Kit).
Here's a vid of the MGK. http://defensetech.org/2011/02/11/video-of-atk-gps-guided-mortar-round/
Big name for what's essentially a simple mortar. Too bad really, I like the Dragon Fire and mounted SRAMS better.
ReplyDeleteagreed Marcase.
ReplyDeletesadly...the Marine Corps went simple and its going to cost us.
Well Sol, it's not a bad mortar. Besides underslung, disassembled it can even be carried by mules when moving through mountaineous terrain. You couldn't do that with Dragon Fire etc.
ReplyDeleteyeah but it continues a trend that disturbs me...everything is being optimized for carry by the MV-22.
ReplyDeletesomething about that strikes me as being wrong.
What was wrong with

or maybe some mod thereof?
Take care.

ReplyDeleteWhat I can't figure out is with all the 120mm mortar improvements and weapons coming on line now, why has the US Navy choose to ignore them for NECC units like the riverines? Might even work on some small ships for (limited) NSFS?
