Pic of the day. Feb. 12, 2011.

F-22 Raptor 4173 takes off from Lockheed Martin’s Marietta, Ga., facility on its delivery flight to Langley Air Force Base, Va., Jan. 27. Lockheed Martin has delivered 173 of a total of 195 Raptors to date.

  1. It will be a depressing day in the not too distant future when the PAK-FA and J-20 production lines are humming and the F-22's but a memory.

  2. still time to extend the production line.

    from what i'm hearing that actually might occur.

    don't give up yet.

    the only thing i want is to see the airplane product improved. as much as the 'haters' slam the f-35, the f-22 is short legged.

    as much as its able to supercruise, its still short legged. it has a lack of sensor fusion and is basically a flying super jet with last century avionics...even the latest Super Hornet international beats it.

  4. Raptor's production tools are being put away in a fashion that the production line can be reactivated with minimum hassles. Imagine how a 2020-redesigned F22C will look flying and fighting alongside existing 183 F22A.
