2nd Marine Division takes over fight in Afghanistan
Something is very wrong with this video.
A change of command ceremony?
An M1 Tank used as a prop?
An MRAP used as a prop?
Wow.
Fucking Wow.
I understand operational tempo. I understand the pulse of war. I understand the need to maintain morale. But bullshit stuff like this should remain stateside. I don't know whats going on but it just feels wrong. I could be wrong...but say it out loud and see if it makes sense to you...A CHANGE OF COMMAND CEREMONY IN A WAR ZONE.

ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with that? Happens all the time.
ReplyDeleteJust means the USMC has the time and safety to conduct ceremonies. That, in a way, is itself a statement that the USMC is in control, in their AO anyway.
Afterall, the A'Stan isn't 'total war' - if that were the case we'd be in Pakistan by now.
the problem is this...unlike the Air Force (and i'm not slamming them) or any other service that has alot of people in the 'rear with the gear' the USMC has people out in the boonies, sleeping with scorpions and camel spiders...freezing at night, burning up during the day and instead of sharing his guys hardships, he's chillin' having a ceremony.
ReplyDeleteoh and trust me...this guy has a couple of battalion commanders out there going through the shit while he's doing this. and one last thing...who is a change of command ceremony for? the Privates and LCPL??? hell no! is it for the Platoon and Company Commanders??? hell no! then who is it for? those guys just want to get on the plane and get home as soon as possible.
its self serving nonsense...just my opinion...like i said, i could be wrong.
Not to think all the grunts who had to spend their stand down time prepping for this Change of Command Ceremony. Instead of resting and unwinding.
