I'm done with Kel-Tec.
They can't get the products to market. They spend more time on marketing jackets, hats and other merchandise than the do their guns....
And if the video from Nut-n-fancy is any indication then they don't even spend time with their own weapons and the gun I was looking at in particular (the PMR-30) seems to malfunction an awful lot.
I'll stick to Rugers or Walthers when it comes to 22 caliber fire. As far as the shotgun and rifle from Kel-Tec is concerned...not a chance.
More for us...
ReplyDeleteyeah more for you at twice retail price.....sheeple!
ReplyDeleteBuy at the gunshop, not gunbroker. :-) (I was something like #62 on the waiting list for this thing and I'm still waiting. :-( )

when the guys that i shop at online can't get it...when you search around and they're selling at twice retail and that's considered a deal....when i see malfunctions like i did on the nutnfancy video...
ReplyDeletefuck kel-tec...no way...not with your money....not with anybodies money except the Brady Campaign's!
Besides, those guns look ugly as shit. I'm pretty happy with my Smith&Wesson AR anyway.
ReplyDeletei was mainly interested in the PMR-30....i mean seriously! 30 rounds of 22 WMR per mag? who wouldn't want to try out a neat little trail gun like that? but they can't make it work and they can't get it into production.
ReplyDeletethen i got interested in the shotgun...14 rounds of slugs or buckshot or 7 rounds of each in each tube? but then i watched the action on it...read some reviews...not a chance...i'll stick with my mossberg 590...
finally we get to the KBR...interesting again...a 308 but in bull pup form? but the price point is ridiculous! i can get a Springfield SOCOM II for a little bit more.
so yeah, i'll stick with my S&W AR (great minds think alike), my 590, my AK's, SKS's and glocks and be happy.
@Patrick: Whatcha got? I've got an M&P 15T (Magpulled out with a Nikon scope now).

@Solomon: I bought ammo for that sucker last summer thinking it was just around the corner. I spoke to the people at the local gunshop where I'm on the waiting list and they said they've had some come through but they don't stay in the store more than a couple hours (as they're already spoken for by those on the waiting list).
ReplyDeleteRegarding the KSG fumbles in the video I think you're referring to, word is they went back and reworked the design of the action after that but time will tell. I'm still holding out for the PMR-30 for the time being. I was ready to throw my XDm 40 in the lake before I got it broke in. Now it runs like a dream. I wonder if the PMR-30 needs to be broken in. Some types do, some don't. *shrugs*

ya know i understand what you mean by that but i'm not into boutique weapons and the PMR-30 is starting to look more and more like one. add the failures on the vid and then the spotty arrival on store shelves and i'm beyond pissed (yeah i'm stuck on that point but what kind of company can't meet demand for a product thats wanted like this one is!)
ReplyDelete"boutique weapons"? Not sure I follow.
ReplyDeleteby boutique i mean that its so fucking rare it can't be found...
ReplyDeleteGotya. Like the endangered OD Green Walther PPS.
ReplyDeleteexactly!

ReplyDeleteGot a M&P-15-MOE-Flat Dark Earth. I got an Aimpoint Comp-M2 redot for it, and it came with magpul flip-up rear sites, floding stock, grip, and handguard.
I've also got a compensated Glock G22 with night sites on order that should be comming in a week or two.
Most of Kel Tec's guns are hard to find. That includes the 3 you have mentioned and also the Sub-2000 and the Su-16 series rifles. I think the remainder of their pistols are pretty easy to find. They do big business with their compact pistols i think.
ReplyDeleteto be honest, its the success of their compact handguns that elevated the brand in my opinion. for a long time i considered kel-tecs throwaway guns not worthy of my time or money....i'm still not a fan of the SU-16 series but to each their own....no my problem is that i was looking forward to this weapon. it hit my sweet spot caliber wise, msrp wise...it seemed ideal and now the bastards can't deliver.
ReplyDeleteI forsee a career as flash looking movie props, but that's probably about it...
ReplyDeleteRegards,

Or, it could be like the UBR two years ago. I wanted one of those stocks for my AR and I looked high and low. Nobody had them except Gunbroker and they were all 50% above retail. Then they came out with the then new ACS and STILL you couldn't find a UBR. I felt about the UBR/Magpul exactly the same way Solomon feels about Kel Tec and the PMR-30. Eventually Magpul caught up and now you can find UBRs everywhere.

I'm not a sheep cause I understand that a company that is so popular in any field will not be able to supply everyone with what they want with the hype they create for the product. That's just a fact of many pieces of technology. It's not kel tec reaping the gouged prices, it's the venders. Just like the scar.
ReplyDeleteI don't plan on getting one now, but when the RMR and shotgun come down and get more reasonable I will.
Also I think in the nutnfancy video those guns weren't even worked in enough. I've noticed stiff springs, unpolished feed ramps and unmated metal tend to cause the most malfunctions. Just playing with a guns action tends to loosen everything up a little.
I also want to say thanks for the great blog. :)
AJ187...
ReplyDeleteno you're not sheeple...but on this we just agree to disagree....no big deal...keep coming to the blog...i like your company.
The pmr-30 or (poorly made rimfire-30) has been out for a year and still cant find one. HAD one on order for over a month saw the nutnfancy vids and and sad fuck kel-tec went and got my money back
ReplyDeleteKel-Tec Customer Service just plains sucks, they are disrespectful period and they are customer haters..once they got your money..
