  1. Brilliant design, shame it never was.

    Besides cargo, that pod would've made one heck of a Daisy Cutter. That fact alone should've peaked strong USAF (USAAF?) support.

    i continue to marvel at what the engineers of the past came up with that would have applications today.

    and think about this....i've just been taking a look at designs in the US...i haven't even started to touch on European designs...not even thought about stuff in the old iron curtain....not even looked at developments in Asia.

    this subject alone could fill books or a website.

  7. Fantastic! Think about hanging two TEU ISO freight containers below a modern version of this aircraft and you have a TRUE intermodal aiflifter.
    Yes there a wheel sets and hardware for ISO containers and their payload should be somewhere between 20,000 and 25,000 lbs EACH
