Looks like I was not only wrong, but TOTALLY WRONG! Thanks Rohan for setting me straight. He stated that the briefing indicated two MH-47G's were involved along with a pair of Black Hawks. Sounds like the Night Stalkers were out playing.
I wonder if this will add a bit to the USAF's choice of their next Rescue Helicopter?
2 MH-47G's and 2 PaveHawks (one of which ditched) according to Pentagon briefing. I dont think SOCOM is comfortable with sending the unarmed CV-22 into a hot LZ just yet
ReplyDeleteOutstanding.
ReplyDeleteI'll update accordingly.
My first guess was 160th. SOAR. They have the range and proximity to the infil site. Looks like my guess was correct.
ReplyDeleteFurther news that the PaveHawk was subject to loss of flight control possibly due to a hydraulic failure. Whether or not this was due to ground fire is not known but Pentagon insists it was purely a mechanical malfunction. In any case it doesnt matter, one bird exchanged for the asshole of our time is good enough for me. Killed on the same day as Hitler...maybe there is such a thing as karma......
ReplyDeleteDon't want this to sound like high school, but Sweetman took a potshot at you on Ares today in his "stealth" helo post.
