Long story short. This marriage is dead. Leave Europe to their own devices. The UK, and the rest of them. Lets see how they do in their next war. The bastards will be begging for help. Personally, I'm tired of the America bashing.
i personally think many European countries have a general inferiority complex. they want to be as relevant as they were when they had their empires (before WWII), but after WWII their decline was only masked because of their need to defend against the soviet union but in reality any full assault by the Warsaw Pact nations would be opposed mostly by US troops, France, W. Germany and Britain could field some divisions but mostly didnt have the numbers or the tech to take on the soviets if we werent there. The british fought valiantly in WWII but with the lost of their empire they lost large amounts of men and resources. they are being relegated to nothing more than footnotes in history, as the focus of the world, militarily, diplomatically and most of all economically is focused in the pacific (with Germany as the only main possible exception).
