  1. You just know Bill started crying when the front end of the aircraft didn't come off. ;-)

  2. this is damn near a done deal. Bill has lost so bad i don't see how he gets his rep back....Trimble fell in line with him and got burned...the only one left is Bob Cox at Ft. Worth but since Lockheed said they were laying off 1500 people due to budget cuts he's been REAL quiet...

  3. Sweet. Wish I knew the parameters of the test (Weight, Launcher settings). Definitely not a 'mild' shot, though.

  4. Yeah, I'll bet they take their foot of the accelerator a bit next time :-) Thing looked like they could have pulled it right into a 90 degree climb.

  5. Saw the fun you were having over at Ares. "Horde" was just stating what he thought was obvious right up until he mentioned 'Noisy'-WTF does that really mean? He could have read a weather report, saw a windsock or just wagged the wind knowing that the general conditions for a first launch has such wind limits - it doesn't matter. All about wowing the 'rubes'. There's some variables nobody went into that could have added or subtracted from that 'bobble' at the start beginning with nose strut damping and ending with CG selected, but its all trivial. And back to the 'noisy' bit: this plane is going to be taking off at mil power alot more than any F-18 version and the mil power noise is quite a bit quieter than an F-18 in AB. I think if the DOD was smart, they'd take some F-4s out of the boneyard to tour around the country to remind folks what real noise is. People are going to notice the F-35 engine sound as much due to the lower frequency resonance than the F100/101/404, etc as the dB levels.

  6. Growing up by Hill AFB as a kid, we had F-4s and F-105s flying around. Fighters don't get much nosier than those. :-)
