Trimble decides to participate in APA stupidity.
Trimble has lost it.
Instead of playing it straight, he instead decides to be a shill for the Dark Lord, Bill Sweetman and post tripe like this!
Notice the photo above? What do you see? PL-9 air to air missiles and PL-12 air to air missiles in the J-20's internal weapons bay. What else do you notice? How about the fact that the PL-9 is physically larger than the PL-12 in this mock up!
But in his story, Trimble conveniently ignores the obvious and instead tries to play a game with his readers, by misdirecting them to the "not a pound for air to ground" when he's really attempting to highlight the "supposed" weapons carriage of the J-20.
Obvious.
Contrived.
Silly.
And beneath his dignity. When we have journalist that know better doing SHIT like this then no wonder they're losing respect.

Does anyone know where the photo came from? Is it from a trade show or some fanboy's modeling collection?
ReplyDeleteHere is another shot from below.

ReplyDeleteLooks like a its from a personal collection. Educated guess its a Dragon Models J-20 diecast model. Dragon also does a 1/144 scale plastic model of it too. Dragon is also the the one who made a kit of the reported stealth blackhawk from the OBL raid.
I've built several Dragon kits and they don't always get it right.
Oh I think that heat seeking missile might be from a 1/72 kit while the other AAMs are 1/144 scale. Its a Kitbash, nothing more, and not official.
ReplyDeleteOr it could be that one or both is/are 'new' missile design concepts. Either Mini-AMRAAMs or Giant-Sidewinder copies. [;-)
ReplyDeleteLooks like the PRC steals Boeing marketing techniques as well.
hey guys i know its from a model and Trimble does too. thats not the point...the point is that a noted aviation writer is trying to pass it along as a representation of the weapons load of the J-20.
ReplyDeletehe knows better...and by trying to pass it along as the weapons load of the J-20, he's sending the signal that the F-35 is not going to cut it as the next generation fighter.
to me its obvious.
to me, its part of the campaign that a certain clique of writers are engaged in.
to me it has APA and Sweetman's hands all over it. i don't know Trimble but i see alot of Sweetman in some of his writing.
that disturbs me.
Nothing more maddening than some over-the-top accusations of conspiracy because a journalist decides to post something offbeat on his blog to promote discussion. It's an awfully big slippery slope you're sliding down trying to connect it with some giant conspiracy to undermine support for the JSF.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned you don't know Trimble. Well, I do. Conspiracies ain't his style. He's just an aviation nerd who likes to talk about this kind of stuff, and one of the better guys I've met. So, really, you're talking out your rear end about someone you know nothing about. That's a considerably worse sin than Trimble committed.
hey Sanderson1650. if you think that i'm even considering rethinking my position then you're barking up the wrong tree.
ReplyDeletei do more than simply read people's writings. i read patterns. i determine whether the style has changed etc...
i've made note of that in previous writings by Trimble...i've noted it especially in Sweetman's more technical posts so i feel like i'm solid ground.
additionally i know for a fact that the "distribution list" for APA has many noted journalist and policy makers on it.
so Sanderson1650 pound sand, i'm right, your boy Trimble got busted and you're welcome. its not often that i can make the blind see the light.
Trimble is certainly no fan of the F-35, and he screwed the pooch on this one, but I just don't see how this is anti-F35. Of course the J20 has a bigger weapons bay than the F-35; the J20 is frickin huge. Every comparison I've seen always goes J20 to PAK FA to F-22, not F-35, and rightfully so.
ReplyDeleteAlso being on a distribution list doesn't mean anything. I was on Cindy Sheehan's mailing list for a long time, doesn't mean I agreed with a single thing she said.
feel good since you gave your opinion?
ReplyDeletei disagree with your assessement. as i said in my post. its obvious, contrived and silly.
i also note that you didn't deny that Trimble is on APA's distribution list. thanks for the confirmation of what i already know to be the truth....now to hunt down that fuck in Ft. Worth...he'll slip up too.
I didn't deny Trimble's on an APA list because I have no idea if he is or not. How would I know that anyway? I don't know Trimble and I don't know the APA. Actually I'm just taking your word for it that there is an APA mailing list.
ReplyDeleteYou implied you knew Trimble was on it and my point was that even if he is on an APA mailing list that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
