Tank sniper team has really been very effective in afgan as of late! The flir combined with a bft give the tanks a huge presence alone add in the firepower and standoff they can bring just really gives a unit great force multipliers
ReplyDeleteagreed but there was a report that a friendly fire incident occurred where some USMC Snipers were returning to the FOB and were engaged by the coax machine gun of one of the tanks guarding the MSR. tragic. i just hope they ironed out all SOPs so it doesn't happen again.
ReplyDeleteSniping with tanks? Maybe the Marines should get that .50 cal mounted above the main gun and linked into the fire control system like on the TUSK kit? I forget the acronym for that piece of equipment.
ReplyDeleteNo, the corps inserts snipers who locate and pin insurgents and then tanks comes in and deatroys
