BAE Ground Combat Vehicle Porn!

Awesome.

BAE is definitely laying down the gauntlet for the other manufacturers.  Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that they're ready to pick it up.

  1. If the data from BAE is true, this vehicle weights 63 tons. This is a little bit too heavy for my taste.

  2. yeah but that came from the US Army not BAE. remember that the Stryker A2 is 40 tons now. additionally the Boxer is approaching that weight and so is the Puma.

the fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq has left our armed forces scarred. besides, its cheaper to pay for a vehicle that is over armored than for servicemen's group life insurance payments if they deploy in a vehicle thats too light.

what's killing me is that we still haven't seen anything from their competitors. thats somewhat troubling.

  4. have you seen some of the concepts for the AMPV program? BAE is putting forward an upgraded Bradley without the turret for it. this vehicle has some of those design features.

what has me beyond curious are the vehicles add on armor packets(?). i get the ones in back...obviously external fuel tanks but the ones on the side are simply huge! someone talked about repairing track in the field and it must be a bitch if they have any weight to them at all.
