When the photos of the F-35 with pylons attached first came out, I made the comment over at ARES blog that they looked HUGE!
Rookie action on my part and more proof that I didn't spend any time with the wing. In an attempt to find out the reason behind the "why" of them being so large, I was directed to not let my eyes fool me and to look at other aircraft.Good call. If you compare the size of the pylons found on several other tactical aircraft you'll find not much difference. My bad. Mystery solved. Apologies to the JSF team. Keep plugging away guys.
