It looks like BAE is coming out hard on the GCV. Check out there website here. And the product card and vid is below. To be honest I'm starting to look forward to what kind of upgrades they'll be offering for the AAV.
that kinda surprised me too but the US Army says that they want a 10 passenger tracked IFV so i guess its to be expected. how this fits in to the new Pacific strategy is beyond me but BAE is just responding to the requirements.
ooops you're right and i am SO WRONG. 9 soldiers and a 3 man crew. i should have known better. BAE wouldn't screw the pooch on something so fundamental.
Love to know how a hybric powerpack is going to carry all that weight for a typical battlefield mission and what reliability you get.
Also, havent to Israeli's recently been converting surplus MBT chassis into heavy duty IFV's? Seems an interesting route to counter the IED and RPG/ATW threat.
the israeli namera is suppose to be in the competition along with General Dynamics. on the issue of the powerpack i'll have to take your word cause i have absolutely ZERO knowledge of that.
Dear God, the thing weighs as much as an Abrams! You might as well just save time and money by using that chassis to begin with.

ReplyDeleteWell they aren't even getting that - the specifications say it carries a 9 man squad.
ReplyDeletereally? let me check the requirements. i am almost positive the Army wants 10 soldiers carried. time to google.
