German Leopard 2A6 in China? Plus new J-20 photos!

I don't know if I'm being punked or not but the China Military Report Blog posted these pics purportedly showing a Leopard 2A6 in China.

If this is real then my simple question is WTF!

Time to upgrade those anti-tank missiles boys 'cause China has Chobham armor now!  If this is real that is.

Oh and for a good two-fer here are his latest photos of the J-20...new to me at least...

UPDATE:
I found the thread the SFERRIN referred to on Military Photos.  You can read it here...but suffice it to say that the guys over there are trying to say that its a mock up of a Leopard and not a real one.  I beg to differ.  It might not actually be in China but that's not a mock up.  The US Army uses dissimilar vehicle trainers where they put shells on Humvees and M-113's to make them appear to be foreign equipment.  That fell out of favor when it was found that they could simply buy the real thing and use that for training.  That vehicle my friends is no mock up.  Judge for yourself though...oh and this is old...like last year in December old.

  1. That looks suspiciously like a German Army tank being driven on a German Autobahn on a German MAN transporter truck...

  2. yeah but...the Chinese have copied and cloned every vehicle produced in the west...for god's sake they even have cloned something as mundane as the hummer and even their roadways are copies of the best practices found in western nations.

like i said i wasn't sure and i might have been punked but ....

  3. Yeah, those pics showed up on milphotos as well and the resident tank guru (Damien) and others tore 'em apart. In short it's not a Leopard II in China. :-)

  4. you don't need a resident tank guru...i'm pretty good at vehicle identification...what you need is a geography guru.

i admit that its highly suspect but its not beyond the realm of possibility. tell ya what...direct me to the post on military photos...

  5. its clearly on the Autobahn, i've driven tens of thousends of miles on them, the Tank has German markings and German camo, and the trees next to the autobahn look very european..... and so does the weather ;(

I,m quite sure is been taken in Germany.

  8. Y'know...the more I look at that J-20, the more I think that the real engines for it will be much bigger. I think these are the 'training engines' that allows them to test the overall design (to a point) and more importantly the on-board systems and perhaps even some preliminary RCS/CEM validation

  9. Those are the biggest engines they could get for it. (Basically, Flanker engines). They're trying to make better for it. They're not even to the point of producing equivalents to late-model AL-31s on their own, let alone something in the F119 or F135 class.
