Argentina gut punches the UK

Wow.

Argentina is alot more serious about the Falklands than the British are willing to admit.  There will be a shooting war over this issue.  The Argentinians are inflamed about this issue and the Brits are so laid back about it that they can't see the warning signs.

Watch the vid again and take in exactly what they're saying.

The UK got bitch slapped.

  1. Erm, the "gun cam footage" showing them sinking Invincible was more worrying.

Do you know who throws youtube videos?
Someone too weak to throw punches....

I think anyone poking Cameron with a stick today is either very brave or very stupid...

  2. the point is that they have the audacity to broadcast a video like this. the British can continue to down play this threat. ignore the obvious but its seems to me like you're setting yourselves up for failure.

i'm surprised at how docile the west is to provocation these days.

the time of the Iron Lady is indeed over.

  3. Maybe the British aren't taking this as seriously as they should. But at the same time, I think their talk is more for domestic consumption. And if the Argentines really believe they're going to get the Falklands back, they're deluding themselves. Taking back the Islands just isn't the same as nationalizing a Spanish electric company. And if they do make a move, who besides their Lefty Latin American friends are going to think twice about slapping Argentina with sanctions?

  4. the problem is the s. american countries led by Brazil are a tremendous trading group. you might not even have France on your side. Obama is always iffy and Germany is a wild card.

domestic consumption? isn't that what British intel said before the first falklands war?????

  5. i think Europe would come around, remember Europe has been wanting to show how good it is as a military force away from the US for years, and they were bloodied by Libya in needing the US, i can see a task force led by the charles de gaulle and RN and royal marines as assault troops retaking the islands, no other S. American countries will intervene. they care too much about trading, and wont join in a war thats not legal. Falklands want to stay British, taking it over by force will do away with the idea of self determination of governance. Also i dont think Obama will commit troops, but neither did Reagan.

  6. Oh christ, nobody in Argentina with an IQ over 80 thinks this is anything but what it really is. What a joke.

Or they could take it seriously and get their asses kicked: the Brits have a thousand troops, thousands of mines, a very well maintained garrison, and even a sub based there, not to mention a very advanced air defense system. And that's not the full list, either. It's just got what it didn't have in 1983: a shitload of weapons and dudes who use them. The island is lousy with British power.

To invade and keep the islands, the Argentos would have to lose thousands of men in waves of attacks, and they would still probably lose, especially due to British artillery on landing craft.

Just one additional complicating factor for the Argentinians: the US side is almost certainly going to be immediately shooting at the Argentines from the outset of any new combat: that alone will make the Argentinian air cover non-existent, which would make ANY invasion impossible. You MUST have air cover to take that island, logistically. Sea supply just won't hack it. It can't be done, not a sustainable offensive on the island.

Also, it wasn't a bitchslap, it was a silly commercial.

They "take it seriously". Big whoop. Indians took the white man seriously, too- fat lot of good it did 'em.

  7. Argentina doesn't have the capability and building up to get it would take at least a decade and a lot of money they don't want to spend. The air force consists of roughly 60 Mirage III/5's and A-4's. The only possible scenario for Argentina is a special forces raid on the air base where the Typhoon's are and the UK is better at undertaking and defending that kind of mission. This leaves aside of course exactly how they'd insert as opposed to even making it onto the island(s).

  8. Well... if that add was actually shot in the Falklands [*] then there's a PR failure somewhere already. Maybe an intel one too. There should have been a counter already out.

    Take care.

[*] Spaniards still call them Malvinas. Not because we take the Argentine POV but because, well, the name's in Spanish.
