IDF fighter jets fly low and fast inside Ramon Crater in the Negev
Desert.
Awesome pic and the camo works...the Iraeli's have been releasing quite a few pics of low level F-16 flights lately...almost as if they're telegraphing something.
While I could be totally wrong my impression is the photo is taken from another accompanying aircraft. Exactly how far from the side of the terrain feature or their altitude is not readily apparent to me.
Israel keeps putting on information about air operations. I remember a few years ago when many were surprised over the details when they did wargames with Greece. The initial reports of the distances Israel was practicing CSAR was widely dismissed but later confirmed.
At this point it's not clear whether is trying to tell Iran, the US, and/or others they're serious about striking Iran; moreover, it's not at all clear if they're really serious. There's various speculation that if Israel is going to hit Iran they'll do it before the election so Obama has to support them given the reality of his election chances were he not to do so. I stopped trying to figure this one out. Frankly I thought Bush would hit Iran before he left office. It's going to be messy but it's in our interests to strike Iran ourselves rather than letting Israel do it, which probably drags us in anyway.
So it's entirely possible we've made some assurances to Israel to stop them striking Iran some months ago and that either Israel will do it and we'll do it instead of them. The one thing that seems solid is Iran doesn't appear to believe anyone is going to strike their nuclear program. It's clear someone is delusional and we might actually find out within a few months.
Is that photo shopped or would you have to duck?
ReplyDeleteUnless scales just hard to judge, but they look really low
