I can name on 3 fingers US Army schools that are prized by Marines...Schools that Marines would give body parts to go to.
Ranger...Airborne....HALO....
There might be a few others but these are the only ones I hear about people lusting for.

The Army is addressing the specifics of the plan to allow female soldiers to join infantry battalions and – associated with that move – to make the prestigious Ranger School co-ed, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno said Wednesday.I'm starting to see the total picture.
The Army's top leader said he wants to give women every opportunity to succeed in infantry battalions since the military reversed the policy barring them from infantry duty earlier this year.
Odierno noted that nine out of ten senior infantry officers have graduated from Ranger school and wear the Ranger tab on their uniforms. Not allowing women to earn their own tab could hinder their infantry careers, Odierno said.
Looks like the Marine Corps did push back a bit on Women in the Infantry...so now they're going after the Army and Ordierno is more than happy to oblige.
Oh well.
Looks like Ranger School is going to have full quotas once again.
I can't wait to see the first all female class.

It won't work. It might look good on paper. It might work while training in peacetime within the confines of military bases. It might have been working in non combat arms units in combat theaters during stabilization operations. But I sincerely believe that it will not work when a new conflict breaks out. When conditions are austere to put it lightly and the front line troops have not bathed in 45-60 days and a woman has to also deal with her menstrual cycle during that time...trying to stay clean is already hard enough. Also, what percentage of women that try to join the grunts will be able to drag a wounded 180 pound man wearing the additional weight of full combat gear to safety all by herself? Let's say 3 out of every 100 just to be generous. So then those 3 women join an infantry company. That means you will get an average of 1 woman per platoon. Do you seriously think that the presence of those women will not cause a rift? Suddenly, grunts can't act like grunts NEED to be able (yes you have to be one to understand that statement so shut the hell up) to act for fear of offending the women. Posters of naked women on the hog boards. Dirty jokes. Filthy talk and stories. All of the things that help grunts make it through the shit times will have to be restricted or stopped. Then you have the distraction that the presence of a woman in a "man's" environment will cause. Everything from crushes held by other troops for the women. Jealousy against the guy that she is banging in 3rd platoon or how fucked up it is that you keep seeing Sgt Jones sneak into the company 1st Sgt's hooch at 2am. The excessive urge for all of the men to try to overcome their "fatherly" instinct which will cause them to pay TOO much attention to the safety of the women during firefights. These factors will all be exacerbated by the fact that there will be so few capable women that make it into infantry units that the low man to woman ratio will make it impossible to ignore the issues I have just mentioned. No army in the world that has let women into front line units has been able to avoid these problems. Couple that with the wrath that is unleashed in today's politically correct society any time a discrimination accusation is raised (true and false) and you have a recipe for disaster. Am I wrong? I really hope so. But I doubt that I am. How many outstanding Marines and Soldiers (men and women both) will have their careers destroyed by this social experiment that some politician wants to add to their resume? Are we really hurting that badly for volunteers for the grunts? Maybe instead of worrying about women being able to earn the Ranger tab, the Army should simply stop treating Ranger school like such a necessary ticket punch to have a successful career? The Marines don't have that type of unwritten policy about the attendance of specific school in order to advance in your career. I am sure the Army could learn from this. Then the Army would not be exerting pressure on the Marines to have to follow their lead with letting women in the grunts.
