Geez.
Check out this story on the cover story on Time Magazine. "Are you Mom enough."
Wow.
I love female breasts don't get me wrong but there is something sick going on. Read it here.
Personal opinion.
Time Magazine jumped the shark, turned around, sat down and had dinner with it.

hay solomon, is breastfeeding a 3year old sick?
ReplyDeleteshort answer NO, there are cultures, where this is more than acceptable.
Our own culture at one point even considered this "some what" normal, but our changing attitudes to children, parenting, & the media's invasive attitudes to their narrow perception of "acceptable", damages our culture.
kids used to have freedom in our countries, then came the great "predator scourge", in the 80's, 90's, that changed habits, children became more homeward bound not being able to venture more thasn a few 10's of metre's from your front door.
the media isn't always a force for good, the danger never increased, just became reported more.
rant over!!!
I didn't pay attention to this controversy, due to my disdain for Time and Newsweek's politics, but now that I have actually studied the image, I now say - WTF!?
ReplyDeleteAttachment parenting sounds like a bunch of crap. Where do fathers, single fathers fall into the equation? It sounds like a completely female biased movement - like we don't already have enough of those.
Sick is parading your child around like an fashion accessory/object. I happen to be working on a ongoing documentary which involves children, and I find myself thinking about these types of issues all the time.
thank you Drake! you get it. they talk about a war on women but women are damn near leaving guys out of any role at all except to inseminate them
ReplyDeletei had a debate with a friend on facebook about it, its interesting yet not convinced is the best idea to breast feed that long, it might not be dangerous but the benefits of breast feeding are mostly exhausted after 6 months, my friend was saying breast feeding up to 2.5 years has some benefits while only partially breast feeding but havent seen the data around that.

ReplyDeleteThere are indeed cultures where kids stay on the tit for years and years. Most of them are also cultures where there isn't shit to eat, like in Africa. It is one of the few food sources available. It certainly isn't necessary.
