The only thing that saved Silva the first time was Sonen running out of gas near the end. Silva doesn't have a good enough defense for the tired (at least in my opinion)ground and pound game.
you don't stop the game after the 1st or second round...you have to go the entire fight. Sonnen paid for his lack of endurance and since that time Silva has gotten better. besides Sonnen talks too much shit, he said he'd leave forever and look at him crawling back now. i hope Sonnen get his ass kicked...i couldn't do it, he'd be on my shoot list (i have two lists ... people i'll go hands on with and people that its straight to guns) but i hope Silva can deliver.
Sonnen for some is a total loud mouthed asshole but for others he's simply hysterical. In either case it's not difficult to tell in interviews that's he's not serious on everything he says and he knows he's saying certain things simply to be entertaining.
Sonnen didn't gas in the 1st fight but rather screwed up and gave Silva a shot to pull it out- he had the fight won and didn't have to keep pushing. What stood out to me from that fight was Sonnen took down Silva at will in every round. He totally owned Silva; however, once on the ground Sonnen's strikes seemed weak and ineffective. Sonnen was not able to finish the fight at any point and thus Silva continually had a chance to recover.
The two X factors were was Silva seriously hurt during that fight and did Sonnen significantly gain from any banned substances he took? If I had to bet on this one I'd go with Sonnen. He's got a big edge knowing he's already dominated Silva.
i didn't want to bring up the subject of steroid use but they're rampant. everyone says that sonnen was juicing big time during that first fight and that explained the strength disparity.
i don't know, i'm not in his training room...but i do know this fight will be one for the ages...
