Note: If you have not seen the V-22 in person flying (perhaps at an airshow), the one thing you miss is the fact the Osprey is much quieter than a helicopter. This is amplified when the Osprey approaches at low-level and then convert to the helicopter at the last moment to land. Pretty impressive!
The Royal Navy should be buying these for our new carriers to act as troop carriers, resupply at sea, medivac, tankers, awacs, all these capabiluities in one platform, it would be a game changer.
Great platform. Saw one of these at Farnborough 4 years ago and was immediately converted into a believer. Came in quiet, fast and low and before you knew it it had gone. No time to really think let alone attempt anything hostile. Ideal for spec ops or troop insertion, just wish our 16 AA brigade had a few!

ReplyDeleteseen them...just never had a chance to ride in one. i'm waiting for 1stMAR Air Wing to offer me a ride. i'd love to see the Royal Navy get these.
