  2. yeah but on a budget you take what you can get...besides....boeing builds the posideon and this should equal it and in some regards be better. i know its range should be equal, and it should be able to carry as many weapons....so it should be a case of avionics being the same, only the platforms being different.

  3. your right, about beggars cant be choosers.

according to wiki, posideon has a range of approx 1200 miles, herc c-130j has a range of 2800 miles, that alone is quite interresting.

  4. that alone tells me that the posideon might have been the wrong platform and that the UK if they bought this might come out ahead. picking an airliner to do maritime patrol is traditional...it might not be smart...besides....we use hercs to go into hurricanes so that tells me that they're strong enough to handle the worst weather....sorta like what happens over the north sea!

  5. Wonder how this C-130 version compares on price with used P-3's and P-7 maritime patrol aircraft? Seen artists representations of a C-130 with floats turning it into a seaplane, wonder if that's part of this proposal at all? See http://media.photobucket.com/image/recent/arminius33/Project%2520How/11-c130-floatplane.jpg
