We haven't taken our own artillery to Afghanistan. Our own in-direct fire capability is 81mm mortars, we were covered initially by Dutch PZH-2000's and now by USMC M-777A2's.
Our Government doesn't care for the idea to be widely promoted that we need artillery support for our operations over there, plus it would be more expensive than the handing our free rations and free blankets type operations our Government likes to promote, so we access Coalition fire support capabilities, beyond our direct fire and 81mm mortars...
