Cool. Without looking at the source data, I'll almost bet that the configuration change and associated CG shift along with lower weight after the ejection sequence allowed the A/C to recover. Otherwise, the thing would have just sunk too far before the engines could spool up, if they did at all. I'd also almost bet that the crew followed the checklist exactly, and wouldn't be surprised if the engines did not respond properly when the pilot brought power back up for a potential 'bolter' per procedure. I was invovled with a test program using an A-6 for several years. The standard joke went: Q:How does an A-6 pilot know when to abort the takeoff on a long runway? A: He goes to full power and then chops throttle if he doesn't start rolling in five minutes. Ahhhh Memories. (Apologies to all the Grummy Bears wherever you are.)
