Personally I rather doubt she's making some sort of political statement and in all likelihood was just behaving poorly and not realizing she was insulting so many people? Sol I totally agree with you our society continues to undervalue civility and we could keep putting up examples till we die but frankly I think being civil also means we don't over react to what appears to be stupid behavior.
To me our national cemeteries are sacred places that deserve respect. Clearly not everyone feels that way. That said I don't recall any of the times I was in Arlington that anyone behaved poorly. So one idiot doesn't really get my blood up.
I'm also mindful of my contempt for those who lose their minds in protest over things like cartoons in newspapers they disagree with and my response that we needed to print more cartoons daily till they learned tolerance.
It's also perhaps worth remembering that Arlington itself is a political statement as basically Gen Meigs saying FU Gen Robert E Lee.

If a picture of bad behavior gets you to say she's subhuman whore who should be assaulted then in my view you shouldn't get bent out shape when the implications of subhuman are explored. Speaking for just myself I have called some people subhuman and I do think subhuman means less right to live then the rest of us. So perhaps I projected my use of the concept on you. That said if that picture gets you to say lets assault the subhuman whore then how about urinating on graves at Arlington while burning an American Flag? Can we set those people on fire? ReplyDeleteIs the average American woman really a privileged asshole? If so does this apply to about the same proportion of men as well? I know quite a few women with busy non privileged lives that take the time to train and spar and stay late after class to make sure they get a new technique down. Sure you can say they're an exception that proves the rule but in terms of American women I'd rather see the glass half full. If most American women are privileged assholes then I assume most mothers are which means most kids are screwed at birth. Maybe that's true but I'd like to think it's not quite that bad.
