Some concepts are so awesome it makes you wonder why they didn't become standard fare in the aviation industry. The pack plane is one of those concepts. A detachable field hospital...command post...armory...disaster relief capsule..this could do it all. Too bad it didn't make it.
Pretty cool. It's basically a real life version of Thunderbird 2...

Well, at first blush it might seem like a good idea. The problem as I se it is that the airplane must be dedicated to a single mission as it is basically useless after it disgorges its load. Too much of a one trick pony in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteCheers.
I agree with Simester totally looks like a Thunderbird, I am aerospace engineer (to be honest I am not working doing maintenance on airplanes), and my concern regarding this configuration, is that it would be a nightmare to do maintenance, and to check before each fly that the modulus is undamaged. Just a crash against it and you will be spending a lot of time assessing the damage.
ReplyDeleteIs better a C130, you just move lode from A to B, and you do not leave part of the airplane anywhere.
