One-man foxhole protects against tanks. ( FM 5-15: Field Fortifications, U.S. War Department, February 1944.)

via Lone Sentry Blog.

I'm really surprised that the training manuals from that time didn't emphasize the need for grenade sumps or reinforcement in sandy conditions.  I've read too many stories about Tiger tanks simply spinning in place burying troops in the defense.

  1. I recall weapons BST where the idea was to dig, dive, hide and let the vehicle roll right over you, then pop up and shoot the Bass Turd in the ass while back blast from the 3.5 RL/LAAWs takes out the following infantry and hides your pos with smoke and dust in the air.
The term used in WW 2 was Jitterbugging the enemy foxholes, kinda like stepping on a bug and wiggling the foot as you press down.
