The Firearms Blog gives great coverage on a caliber and weapon that I think is going to bring a new standard to the weapons industry.
What do I mean by that?
I fully expect by the end of the year for every major manufacturer to be producing the round. I expect every weapons maker to be offering a rifle AND handgun chambered for the round.
Additionally I expect interest from SOCOM and even Law Enforcement.
A super fast 22 caliber round that shoots flat and hits hard?
Urban sniping.
Varmint hunting.
Self defense.
Check out the TFB's post here.
Here's hoping you are right! I have been very interested in this caliber since coming across it last year.
ReplyDeleteThis caliber is screaming for a bullpup PDW.
ReplyDeletenot bullpup but definitely a carbine/pdw done properly. i'd like to see the ruger 10 round mag plussed up to hold 20 maybe 30 rounds...give me a 12 inch barrel...tight rifling and a 1 to 4 power optic so i can reach out and still sing up close.
ReplyDeletei'm telling ya. once this gets massed produced we're going to see this takeoff.
So instead of a P90-type (ie a bullpup) you are thinking of a MP7-type?
ReplyDeleteuh wait. i was thinking traditional bullpup...P90 is a special beast. i'd take a P90 style but not a Tavor like bullpup. MP7 would be second best if we're just copying and changing caliber.
ReplyDeleteHere is a thought:
ReplyDeleteStart with the Magpul PTS, shorten the stock (shorter ammo and shorter bolt), and have a semi-extendable stock like a SCAR.
Last, but certainly not least, take a RIA 22 TCM, add a 8-10 inch barrel, then add a PDW frame, Then add your choice of AR-15 stocks if desired.
