CV-22 Special Mission Aviators


I never noticed the hoist at the ramp area of the CV-22. Seems like an idea that should spread to other ramp equipped helicopters.

    IIRC the CH-53 has an attachment point for fast roping off the ramp, though all the video I've seen only shows from the side.

      oh you're right. there are points at the ramp, hell hole and door. i've sen CH-47's with two ropes off the ramp, one through the floor and oout both doors.

      but i've never seen the hoist at the ramp before today.

    I wonder if it doesn't have something to do with the driveshaft from the transmission to the tail rotor? My brother was an MH-53 crew member for 15 years (retired from the 8th SOS, which I believe is the one from the video above). I'll ask him.
