What was your excuse for not training again?

S&W adaptive athlete and military veteran Trevor Baucom, shoots one of the stages of the Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals with his M&P Shield in 9mm. This marks the first time the M&P Shield has been used by a competitor at the Indoor Nationals. Photo by Shooting USA's Jim Scoutten.
No excuses.

Get off your ass, get in shape, get a gun, and get to training.

  1. ultime drive by shooting hahahahaha :)

but on a serious note, could someone in a chair have a more stable position? they have four points on the ground thats more stability is it not? i know its hard to maneuver because need the hands but some people can move with their legs. also i have wondered if the stigma of disability someone would hesitate to shoot someone with a disability, that hesitation combined with the stigma not being there for the person with a disability firing on someone "normal" may prove an advantage in an active shooter situation.

    1. i'll never say being in a wheelchair is an advantage but i do think that when it comes to armed self defense you can turn it into one if you're thinking.

first the level for the use of force is lower. if a person in a wheel chair is assaulted that person is able to escalate to deadly force much quicker than a person that isn't. he has more places to conceal a weapon. he is able to consistently carry a larger weapon (assuming that he is capable of accurately and safely handling it).

i'm sure the disadvantages are there too but the point is that some of the trainers out there are starting to teach armed self defense to people in wheel chairs...so there is no longer an excuse. i even saw a guy with one arm shooting. its a brave new world.

  2. I'd mount my gun on the transport and use controls as in a video game shooting live bullets. Hose and close.
Body armor added would make for a formidable foe.
Too bad tracers couldn't be employed as well, that might be considered a fire hazard.
    OOrhaaa though!

  3. I keep visualizing a combination between a light solo tank and the Dyleks of The Doctor.
Using a staff with a Taser attached would be less lethal and more world friendly.

  4. i have an electric chair, could you imagine a SAW on the back, with the joystick that drives the chair modified to shoot the gun and drive the chair, would definitely change the idea of an armored personnel carrier :)

and FYI sol, it is an advantage of being in a wheelchair when your in front or behind a good looking girl and your looking straight ahead below the neck and you dont get slapped :D, gotta look at the positives :)
