The L-Cat 44 specs put in in the range of current LCUs. And since it has a 2000 nmi range, I can see the need for a larger superstructure. Since the USN has NOT bought a LCU or LSM in decades, I would not prejudge based on looks alone. What works for the French might work for the USN? hell no NIH rules our navy
A smaller version could certainly be build... It's just adapted to the french BPC Mistral class... Perhaps It could fit on your MLP far on the sea and land troops, keeping the MLP in safe distance ?
