LPD Flight II: Flexible and Affordable

The more I think about it the more convinced I am that we probably got TOO much capability in the San Antonio Class. A serious rethink needs to take place and an adjustment to amphibious ship requirements is probably called for.

  1. I get it.

take a successful (minus the initial kinks), existing hull and re-purpose it into a sort of Absalon-class on steroids:

LPD, Hospital/Humanitarian, ASW carrier, Mothership to Skjold sized boats, Spec Ops/Commando carrier.

Take out the hangar, turn it into BMD VLS. Take out the well and used it as UH-60 Seahawk ASW hangar with elevator.
