General Dynamics MPC spotted at Sullivan Island. UPDATED!!!

They made a Stryker float.  An amphibious Stryker.  I'll wait before passing judgement.....

I've watched this vid about 25 times now and I come to one conclusion.  Ain't no way this is the vehicle that General Dynamics is placing in the competition.  THE ENTIRE DESIGN TEAM WOULD HAVE TO BE SMOKING SOME OF THAT STUFF THEY LEGALIZED IN COLORADO IF IT IS!  Either that or its disguised beyond recognition.  Maybe thats it but we're not seeing the real deal here.  Something is fishy.

  1. Unless there is something screwy with the vid's aspect ratio, that is one TALL vehicle even for a wheeled platform!

If there was one thing I disliked about the EFV, it was the high profile which I assume was a by-product of the necessity of a floating platform.

The Iveco design seems to have a lower profile overall.

    1. height isn't required for bouyancy...its width that usually aids that....still i'm thinking that you're right with regards to meeting ied protection and everyone forgets but the requirement to fit a 95th percentile Marine...at least 9 of them (is it nine? i keep getting this and the gcv mixed) is a tough pill. i got side tracked but i have a few screen captures i'm doing that show it to have design flavor of the piranha III...tell me this though. what is the "add on armor" flotation devices on the side for?????

    2. I just get all weirded out by these tall wheeled vehicles, another example is the VBCI which is just looks massive.

  2. RPG bait. It is a barn on wheels, as in broadside of.

I can't imagine that center of gravity on that thing is anything approaching safe.

I don't see GD winning with their amphibious school bus entry.

    2. It looks a lot like that MPC picture on Wikipedia. This thing is going to flip over on side slopes just like the stryker was doing in Afghanistan. I'm disappointed in General Dynamics, but lets wait and see how good this vehicle really is.
