S. African SWAT Shootouts.

The vid is via Everyday No Days Off Blog, if you aren't subscribed you should.  As far as the vid...wow.  Not in a good way but more in the "what the fuck is going on in S. Africa to produce this type of policing".  I complain about US law enforcement but they're quite civil compared to this.

  1. Solomon, here's how it works. We come out of a low intensity civil war 20 years ago, back that into an unemployment rate of 35% coupled with one of the worst education systems in the world and the blend produces the type of policing you see. The bad guys are armed with fully automatic Ak-47's and R-5's and perfectly happy to use them. Sad but true. The rest of us just duck a lot.

  2. Also think about that S Africa is essentially one big Detroit with the same animals running an entire country.

  3. Yep Houston. We can't afford to piss around with any kind of PC. If you are threatened, go for the hills or second choice go big immediately. It's a split second choice and your family safety is not part of a debate. We do not have the comfort of knowing that you might walk away. 25% of all women in this country are raped at some stage in their lives. I'm 52 now but ex 32 battalion and still have eyes in the back of my head and the creepy goosebumps.

  4. Holy shit, that's like watching the prequel to Mad Max, just before the SHTF

Hey, plenty of land here in the US in case S Africa gets too hot for y'all. Basically anything west of the Mississippi and East of Las Vegas would welcome you with open arms.

  5. Solomon, remember we are talking about a country here where side mounted flame throwers are actual installed options on cars. Where hostage situations are pretty common. Where drive-bys use full auto AKs and RPKs and not TEC-9s. Armed home invasions are a daily occurrence, and the number of home robberies are measured in the 10s per day.

SA is still very much a cross between the wild west and a post apocalyptic future. It is quite simply one of the most dangerous "governed" places on the planet.

  6. Last comment on this. When people ask me why I still stay here, the truth is that my business is here, my kids are here still at school (2 of them) and I love the country as much as I hate the complete lack of order, work ethic and governance. I own property in Florida and I have a 10 year vistors visa to the US but I am only allowed to stay 6 months and I have to leave. I basically have nowhere else to go. So here i stay still in a 53 year firefight.
