  1. With our without F-35,i hope the USN goes after this...after the ASF-14 Super Tomcat, and the A-6F i hope the Navy does not lose this chance...

  2. Why the hate for Boeing?

Is it because of the V-22? Because that's just as much Bell's and the Pentagon's fault.

That's kind of like blaming all of Canada for Nickleback and Celine Dion (of which we have apologized for many times).

    1. its more personal than a hardon for the V-22 . they have a silly stance toward bloggers.

    2. if you take back Jim Carrey, we'll give you some Super Hornets for zero cost and help pay for some brand new SSK's or Virgina class SSN.

    3. DEAL!

We'll just drop him off in Northern Quebec with all the other anti-gun, anti-vaccination wackjobs.

  3. Is this setup something that could be retrofitted to existing Super Hornets? I read about conformal fuel tanks and a pod to hide weapons in. Are there other upgrades like better engines or anything?

    1. not sure but the Navy should be all over that internal FLIR instead of that goofy pod/gas tank thing they're working on.

  4. I'm all for it... especially since the pods can be used on the F-35 :)

    1. where are you going to hang that big ass pod on a F-35? under a wing? are they rated to carry that much weight? anyone have the specs on the loadout and weight of the thing?

    2. The inner pylons are rated for 5k.

    3. The EWP can have 4 AMRAAMs or 2 AMRAAMs with one 2k bomb, one 1k bomb, two 500lb bombs, or four SDBs.

Here is the link to the article

    4. It would be nice to see the EWP have an option for launch-rails on the doors for AIM-9s.
The F35 with 2 pods (one per side) would be quite the payload, especially if they could keep the RCS the same. How about stealth drop tanks??? Now that would be sweet.

  5. Yes, existing Block II Super Hornets can be upgraded to the Block III standard which includes new F414 Enhanced Performance Engines for a 20% increase in thrust, conformal fuel tanks, spherical missile/laser warning system, weapons pod, internal IRST under the chin and lastly a next generation cockpit with a large flat panel touch screen much like the F35.
