Warrior Thunderbird CGI...

This tells of a bad day in the military (of course I'm reading into it)...but think about it.  Stuff is so bad that we've got to arm up Thunderbirds to participate in air campaigns.  That's a real bad day...but a real nice CGI.  I've seen plenty of the Thunderbird F-35 concepts floating around but never one with a weapons load.

  1. For the love of God... If you are going to weaponize a plane, make it an Operationally representative model (not a painted over EOTS) and use real weapons not orange dummy loads.

    1. At least it did not still have the Air Data Probe that so many early CG models still had.

  2. Still a cool looking C.G.I. F-35 in Thunderbird paint (maybe next time they could touch up the weapons too, so they look operational)? F-16 Falcon did it first see http://www.f-16.net/g3/var/resizes/f-16-photos/album38/album71/81-0679.JPG?m=1371895057

  3. You may laugh, but I've heard that the Thunderbirds DO actually hang ordinance off their jets and go the the range sometimes. The pilots need to keep their proficiencies up after all.

Granted...I'm not sure if this is still done or how long ago that this was practiced. The way it was told to me was back during a previous budget crunch (probably mid-90's), the Air Force wanted to show that the pilots were remaining current in operational mission sets like bomb dropping and the jets themselves were still combat capable...in order to justify not cutting them.

  4. If I'm not mistaken it was a one time deal where the ground crew busted their @#$%!!! To get a Thunderbirds F-16 Fighting Falcon loaded up and ready to drop some bombs at a local bomb range, just to show it could be done. But F-16.net should have more info on that (to name but one source)
