Telegraphing the strike on Syria.

Remember you heard it here first.  I'm probably wrong but I bet we hear about a cruise missile strike on Syria Chemical Facilities sometime between now and the Sunday Morning Talking Head shows.  This from the Boston Globe.
ABOARD A MILITARY AIRCRAFT OVER THE PACIFIC — The Pentagon is moving naval forces closer to Syria in preparation for a possible decision by President Barack Obama to order military strikes, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel suggested on Friday.
Hagel declined to describe any specific movements of U.S. forces. He said Obama asked the Pentagon to prepare military options for Syria and that some of those options ‘‘requires positioning our forces.’’
U.S. Navy ships are capable of a variety of military action, including launching Tomahawk cruise missiles, as they did against Libya in 2011 as part of an international action that led to the overthrow of the Libyan government.
‘‘The Defense Department has a responsibility to provide the president with options for contingencies, and that requires positioning our forces, positioning our assets, to be able to carry out different options — whatever options the president might choose,’’ Hagel said.
He said the U.S. is coordinating with the international community to determine ‘‘what exactly did happen’’ in the reported use by the Syrian government of chemical weapons against civilians earlier this week.
‘‘We’re still assessing that,’’ he said.
Lets see.  We have the President talking about Syria between campaign, excuse me, between policy speeches today....

We have a flurry of talk by the "Washington Intelligentsia" regarding a strike against Syria...

And finally we have the President's poll numbers sinking like the Titanic.

It'll be this weekend or the beginning of next week.  I'm personally betting on sooner rather than later...especially with Hagel sticking his head up out of the sand.

  1. I get idiots like McCain, Samantha powers, and Hillary Clinton, but I don't get this President

He dances around Iran, but gets involved in cluster fucks like this.

When has helping people who hate us brought us anything worthwhile in the past decade or so?

    1. they're gonna try and dress it up as not getting involved but taking chemical weapons out of play. they'll also stress that US troops won't be on the ground. its all bullshit though.

and i'm right with you. this guy has no core conviction when it comes to almost any foreign policy issues. the bigger problem is that he's surrounded by college intellectuals that operate in a theory, not fact based world. nuclear weapons for example. theoretically they're a scourge but the reality is our nuclear power has problem helped keep a world war from breaking out.

long story short. the dude is a boob. h

  2. I understand there are 400 loose MANPADS out of Libya and they are waiting for that strike no doubt ringing the facilities that makes chemical weapons.
Obama may lose a large number of aircraft and if manned aircraft a bunch of pilots and crew.
Morale may be low now in the forces but an abject defeat by Syria will destroy it's ability to engage much more dangerous enemies.
Obama will run the risk of meeting his Waterloo this time and look the fool he is.
I would not as a military man/woman/TG fight for Obama.

  3. This whole situation seems sketchy. Wouldn't it make more sense that this attack was carried out by the rebels seeing as they have been trying so hard for any type of foreign intervention against Assad? Plus i just dont get how Assad would give the green light for a chem attack after just letting UN inspectors enter the country to investigate the chem weapons attack a while back. Not saying assad is the good guy or some sort of angel (he isnt) but i just think Obama should make sure he has solid evidence before he even THINKS of an attack

    1. totally agree. many are saying that this is a false flag designed to do exactly what you suggest. the problem is that the psuedo intellectuals are pushing for action and politics in the US has Obama painted into the corner of many asking why didn't you do something because they crossed your red line.

as far as who actually conducted the deed, i have no doubt that they already know. that country is under everyone's microscope from the US to Israel and the Europeans.

they know, they just aren't telling us.

  4. If a strike happens, I'd expect it to happen in a slightly longer time period, probably like 3 weeks minimum with it more likely 5 to 7 weeks out.

My reasoning is that this administration seems reluctant to do anything without some sort of diplomatic cover. I'd be very surprised if anything happened prior to receiving UN/NATO/Arab League blessing. Since diplomacy is nuanced and time consuming, actually positioning our forces for a strike will likely take far less time than getting the diplomatic cover to do so.

  5. Also, if anything does happen, I think Turkey should play a major role. I'm not expecting them to, but they should. It's their damn back yard, so if they want it fixed then it should be their blood and treasure being expended to do so.

  6. Cruise missile attack will be limited, it will give some political cover for Obama and wont achieve anything. There is very limited appetite in the USA or around the world for boots on the ground which is pretty much the only way you could settle this but that isn't happening anytime soon. Western powers don't have the money or manpower, US included and even with chemical attacks, already Russia is saying it is the rebels and NOT Assad forces that dropped it on civilians so forget getting some kind of UN resolution, you pretty much have a guaranteed veto from Russia and probably China too.....also as I "discovered" today, no one really gives a shit about Syria or Egypt,etc...Ben Affleck as the next Batman is getting far more hits and comments than Syria ever got so the population isn't pushing for intervention, if Obama can get keep this sluggish economy going passed Christmas, his approval rating will only get better and better, Syria non intervention wont hurt him...I was told by Ben Affelck fans/detractors that I know nothing about what is important so just my 2 cents!
