DeleteI got a first hand account of that mission from Wayne Fisk, last guy on the ground there. Different kind of cool is right. Wayne is a great guy, and I am proud to call him a friend. Great pic, Sol.

DeleteI had just got my RELADU when this happened Sort of ending a war the same place it started Hijacking and attacking ships at sea.
ReplyDeleteOnce the first Marine went missing the rescue/recovery should have been massive, furious and short.
Sailed off and left them behind they did for a foreign grave.
The last few of almost 2000 men.
Politics then as now determine if it's a Benghazi event or another south east Asian war over piracy.
POTUS Nixon, VPOTUS Agnew Resigned Assigned VPOTUS Ford became POTUS and Ford WAS NOT GOING TO BE ALLOWED to start another "Vietnam" just to rescue three Marines.
These Marines names are the last ones inscribed on the wall.
