CV-90.

Just make it swim and we have our ACV.

  1. Sorry Solomon, but the CV-90 is just too damn heavy to swim, and it only carries 8 men.

It weights at LEAST 35 tons.

    1. the version i have my eye on would be the Armadillo. it would weigh closer to 30 tons. thats swimmable. additionally once you do all the hull modifications (which i'm sure BAE is already doing to the legacy AAV) buoyancy won't be a problem.

the engineering has never been the issue. the issue is the change orders and the funding. the EFV would have been done had they not decided to change it yet again by making it mine resistant.

      but i digress. its doable.

    2. we'll see.

I just don't see the market for a heavy swimming APC.

The USMC can't sustain a specialize vehicle like that, apart from the V-22.

Most ground vehicle buyers these days are in the Middle east, where rivers are very rare.

    3. wow. you trash me about knowing nothing about aviation but i can definitely say the same when it comes to armor. the biggest market for armor these days is the Pacific region. the Saudis and company are buying legacy vehicles by the bus load but in the Pacific we're seeing exciting new designs. quite honestly S. America is a bigger growth market than the Middle East.

you need to get up to speed.

  2. Which is why the CV-90 should have replaced the M-2/M-3 Bradley.
