    1. yeah i read that and have been getting e-mails about it all day

i don't quite know what to make of it. i've read what others think but i don't think they're covering the real importance of this. Turkey and China are both rising power. They're both technologically advanced but Turkey has an advantage that China doesn't. Turkey is innovative....they just don't copy Western gear, they develop stuff as good as anyone elses. what if we're seeing the beginning of a partnership?

    2. Turkey's PM Erdogan is temperamental, and one never can predict what he'll do. But there are some clues.

Recently there has been cold water thrown on Turkey's long-time quest to join the EU. Previously Erdogan has said that Turkey was therefore going to turn its gaze from west to east. Turkey was named an observer to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (Turkey wasn't invited to its last meeting though).

Turkey has been a chief US supporter of the anti-Syria war, but recently the US has gotten shy on the effort as it has been taken over by jihadists. Makes Turkey look bad, being taken and abandoned like that. So I see this as a message from Erdogan to the West. But with Erdogan -- who knows.

  2. I think the message is pretty clear, more and more countries aren't just going to buy US or European hardware, just because.......it took last ditch efforts and I am sure some cold cash to "convince" Skorea to buy F35 instead of on price and time F15. This is just the beginning. Let's face it, 10 years ago Turkey, NATO country buying China military hardware would have been IMPOSSIBLE. Five years ago, China would have been laughed out of the room and told nicely to never come back. Yesterday, they got the deal.

Even if this deal falls apart or China doesn't come thru and Turkey ends up buying Patriot or EuroSAM, I think this will be a watershed moment, Chinese military hardware has arrived on the international market and they will make it hard for a few Western defense contractors to make a living.

Except for a few countries , like USA,France,UK,Germany, Canada and Australia that won't buy Chinese, I would say expect to see China compete more and more for everybody else business. Why buy USA hardware when you can get 80% of capability for maybe 50% costs?
