Paratrooper having a VERY bad day via TacBlog.

Dang.  I'm guessing this must be a jump out of a balloon or something (I think the Brits were doing that kinda stuff at one time).  If it was an airplane he'd be toast.

    1. i think it has more to do with his jacked up exit posture than any problem with his chute. who exits an aircraft like that? even the WW2 german paratrooper did the superman pose while leaping out head first....putting your arms out to the side is just plain weird to me. i'd love to hear more about the unit and what they were jumping out of.

  2. Either the chute was packed improperly or the static line gets wrapped around the cords from what I can see. The chute should have been packed by folding, then the static line folded on top, with the cover held in place by rubber bands. Somehow that didn't happen and you get a hung jumper. If the static line got caught on a piece of the jumpers gear (that ass over teakettle move) that could cause the static line to wrap around the cords and draw tight.

    1. good info, but tell me this. what was he jumping from? a hovering helicopter, a balloon or what? that has me confused because i detect very little forward movement and i didn't think helicopters hovered while dropping paratroopers.
