UK ranked below Argentina militarily.

Oh this is gonna be fun.

Argentina is ranked ahead of the UK militarily.

If this ranking is to be believed then all my British friends that discount Argentine strength are gonna wake up one day with the Falklands reverting back to their former owner.

Read about it here.

  1. Thankfully, Argentina's navy has so little funding that is mostly sits in port.

Hell, they had a ship sink at the dock last year.

However, the signs point to the Argentine AF building JF-17s in Argentina to replace their old fighters.

There may be even more Chinese weapons buys in the future. And as we now know, Chinese arms have never been better.

    1. Argentina's only hope is that if china is willing to sell them some Aircraft, ships, tanks, artillery and submarines. If they get the JF-17 or J-31, that may bring them on par with most of South America. but I highly doubt they will ever match Chile and Brazil.

  2. The UK National Defence Association (UKNDA), which campaigns for “fully funded” Armed Forces, is acting true to form. The "Global Firepower" ranking has UK at 5 and Argentina at.35 so the claim is “utter nonsense” as DefSec Hammond says.

  3. Without a Navy, don't see any realistic military threat. Diplomacy won't be enough even if most of South America will be on Argentina's side. The only way is if Argentina goes on what heck of a buying spree on Chinese hardware. With the sale to Turkey of new SAM's from China, nothing is impossible anymore though. Tradition doesn't mean squat anymore when you have a country that can underbid like China can, if you can get something close to Western tech but for half price, why not buy Chinese? Argentina could use some new JF17s to replace those old Mirages, Daggers and A4s.

  4. Luckily for us, here in the UK we are bouyed up by the knowledge that in the Argentine government we have the best friend we could hope for! While with the correct military leadership and some backbone, Argentine troops can be quite effective although they are prone to laziness and a tendancy to retreat under little pressure. I guess the troops in the British garrison down there may have a whip-round and offer the Argies some money to come over for fisti-cuffs on Stanley green for a few giggles. As for the Spanish and Argies working in tandem? Well, I guess our latino friends would be glad of any work in their current financial difficulties!

  5. I don't know how much Argentina and Spain agree anyways, didn't the Argentina Govt nationalize a Spanish company a while back? Don't think Spain was too happy about that....so it might be awhile before we see full military cooperation!

  6. There is a Brazilian joke about argentineans diplomats. "Never argue with an argentinian, he will defeat you easily, but if they are two, don't worry, they will destroy each other." The worst enemy of Argentina are the argentinians.

  7. You're a bit mistaken. The Falkland cannot revert to their former owner. The islands were uninhabited before the Europeans arrived and Argentina did not exist at the time the British came into the islands possession.

  8. Thanks for the link Sol but unfortunately that report from the NDA, whist perhaps having some measure of background truth, is woeful in its league tables.

Its political party conference season over here so maybe they were trying to get an easy headline which is fair enough I guess but their report have been ridiculed everywhere

Did you get that stuff on expeditionary airfields I emailed you, hope it was useful

  9. Argentina has never had possession of the Falklands. It was originally an outpost of the Spanish Empire, taken from the penguins, which in turn was grabbed off them by France who in turn was grabbed by Britain. So Argentina has never owned the Falklands ,the country never existed to long after Britain took possession. It would be the same as Mexico claiming the USA because it was once under the control of France who at one time owned vast parts of North America. Lets be honest, Argentina just want the vast amount of oil that may be around the Falklands. Somehow I think they have zero hope of that.
