About that Apache Attack Helicopter in China.....

Thanks Su-30MKI for reminding me about this issue.

Recently a Apache Attack Helicopter was seen in China.  Salamander has the best writeup on where the Chinese probably got it, and it explains another issue, click here to read his rationale but here is the juicy bit....
So, on that list, which country and/or military has the ingrained corruption, present dislike to the USA, need of new friends, and could use the money and influence that China can bring that the USA can't/won't?
OK, GRC ... but seriously. Who on that list also have the chaos to let something like this slip through? OK, GRC again ... but work with me.
Yep, Egypt. That is where my money is. Pay the right people the right amount of money. Put it in the right container or on the right ship ... and there you go.
I remember being escorted by an Egyptian Apache through the Suez and talking to some folks on the Flag Bridge the wisdom of selling Egypt all our best equipment. Well, there you go.
It was reported that the US halted arms shipments to Egypt on the 9th of Oct.  Could this be the reason why?

  1. Very unfortunate. On the plus side there is some really cool work going on to replace the current US helicopters like the v280 valour (which is like a non-screwed up mv22osprey). The boeing video shows an aircraft equipped with a 30mm Cannon, 2*Rocket Pods and 8ATGMS mounted internally in the underside of the plane! Additionally they claim a combat radius upto 3x and cruising speeds 2x that of the black hawk whilst being similar size!

I always thought it was strange that the blackhawks didn't have front cannons (for defense and fire-support) and to an extent some other weapons (yes they can be installed but not default). The cool thing is that this aircraft actually bridges the gap between planes(range/speed), transport/assault helicopters (vertical takeoff/landing, weapons, troop capabilities) and CAS and is like a convergence of these.

  3. I can only say that it's just be your own delusion, please check out the comments of Salamander's blog, you will find the Apache you claimed that China got from Egypt is just a poor-quality mockup.

    1. i could care less about what the comments have to say. i read his article and it seems pretty solid to me. additionally he covered the "mockup" angle and i agree with him. why would the Chinese build full scale mockups of our aircraft? it just doesn't make sense.

    2. I don't have an opinion one way or the other on the mockup issue.

In reply to Soloman's question, "why would the Chinese build full scale mockups of our aircraft," I can only respond with: why do the Chinese use ex-Soviet aircraft carriers as an amusement park and a luxury hotel?

    3. well we know the deal with the so called aircraft carrier. they stripped it out and rebuilt it. its now in service.

  4. The Chinese are buying everything they can get their hands on. Remember the stealth bomber downed in Serbia? Their capacity to reverse engineer it is what interests me and since they still rely on Russia to supply them with engines and other technology, perhaps they are not yet that far.
I believe that all this is a smoke and mirror game. You would not allow, especially in China, such an image to hit the internet if you did not wanted this. The internet bursts with new Chinese weapons, but how advanced is the overhaul of their entire equipment? Sure, they will build them but how soon?

  5. Apache helo on trailer with civilian truck, not covered at all and pic of it on Chinese blog. Seems legit.

Correct me but there was the same "class" of news about mysterious pic of German Leo on trailer and it was a mockup for movie(?) some time ago?

  6. Why the f*** do we sell systems like the Apache to Egypt. A country can be a friend one day and an enemy the next, especially somewhere like the middle east. The west should deprive all so called allies in the third world of the latest equipment. All we are doing is equipping our potential enemies. We should only be selling out of date, second rate equipment to certain nations to police their own back yards and that's it. I cant see why Egypt needs Apaches in the first place. The only action they may see is potentially with Israel and aren't they our closest ally in the region

    1. Come on man, that's the point! In the past, Egypt was allied with the Soviets and an enemy of Israel! You can't tempt some one to leave the dark side with obsolete equipment, especially when you're dealing with a state under the influence of their own army. So you sell the same hardware, cause they look great on TV, but you take out something from the combination, lets say, the armor or the targeting system, and you put a rubbish option instead.
The USA just gave Iraq a bunch of M1A1. Sure, id did it because they've blown the tanks Iraq had but if it didn't, then Iraq would have got some T-72 or worse, some Chinese armor.

  7. Looks like a mock up." This is the delivery of the AH-64 Apache replica to the Zhenhai Expo Park."

  8. ya I totally agree with your blog. Helicopters play a great role at the time of war. Every country has their own air force base camps which plays a vital role during war. Many companies are there which provide private services also like we can hire jets and helicopters if we are going for vacations. Read More
