Interesting.
Scuttle Butt has it that the Schools of Infantry on both coasts are low on ammo and MRE's due to the govt shutdown.
Supposedly if the situation doesn't improve, training will either be curtailed or amended. What does that mean? I don't know. Maybe instead of using live fire for training they'll revert to some force on force drills and utilized sims or miles gear.
What I'd love to know is if this is true and if training in the fleet is being affected by the shutdown.
It could be worse: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a1e_1358223039&comments=1
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can/the Corps can borrow some from the TSA and homeland security...
ReplyDeleteWell, at least Homeland Security is well stocked.
ReplyDeleteWhen we had no blanks or our M-16A1's jammed we were instructed to shout "BANG, BANG" MG gunners made tatatatat sounds, Rockets went swoosh and the guys in the armor simply walked around saying TANK, TANK, TANK.
ReplyDeleteOK I made the last up, but ITR circa 70's used M-16's that were dogs, open flash hiders and 20 rd magazines that jammed if more than 15 to 18 rds were loaded.
Do as the Wehrmacht did and load sub powered wooden bullets into cartridges cheap and painfully effective.
