FNSS. Future armor giant?

Many thanks to Mustafa for the link!

Remember me telling you that countries like Poland and Turkey (not to mention whats happening in Singapore, S. Korea,  and Brazil) are leading the way when it comes to armored vehicle development?  Well FNSS is one such example. What follows is a short product overview.  Check out their website here, its been redone and looks great.

  1. The FNSS Savunma Sistemleri company has developed the Pars family of armoured fighting vehicles in a co-operative program with GPV (General Purpose Vehicles company, based in New Haven, Michigan).

The country of origin of PARS family is U.S.

PARS 6x6 is based on GPV 6x6x6 Commander.
PARS 8x8 is based on GPV 8x8x8 Colonel.

In 2009, GPV was invited to participate by Spanish Ministry of Defence, for the program Wheeled Armored Vehicle (VBR) 8x8, but did not answer.

  2. I don't think Singapore will ever be a "giant" in AFV production.

They simply don't have the resources.

They can make very good SPECIALIZED AFVs for unique Singapore requirements, and they are good designers, but the production capacity isn't there. Singapore is just too small.

Brazil has persistent corruption issues and funding is hit or miss. However, S. Korea and Turkey look like they will become big players once the Europeans finish demilitarizing and shutting down their defense industries.

Poland also has the capacity issues, not to mention they only have "concepts' running around right now.

if you click the links under the first picture you can view the whole range. I like how the crew ie commander/driver are all seated together, better communications

    1. The webpage shows me that the sole indigenous design by FNSS is an armored tractor. All other designs are licensed built by US or European companies.
