Totally agree with you. UK mostly use it as a mobile command post than an actual combat/escort vehicle even though that's what it was bought for. Just want to see if this goes the same way or it becomes an actual fast attack vehicle.
Be nice to see something like this hit the frontline as the guys out there need a Fast Attack vehicle specially designed with the role in mind. Not some bog-standard Hummer/Land Rover with a few less parts and a new paint job.
The Jackal 2 is the only thing we have close to the FAV role but it's just a roll-cage with a V-hull, no room for hi-tech goodies and little protection in a firefight.
Solomon, even the Russian actually don't want Iveco they have bought some but not the planned numbers and won't buy anymore. The Gaz Tigr is also unwanted even the Gaz Tigr-M doesn't meat the requirments.
Replacement is in the works but it still long way off. Until then they are still going to be buying Tigr's. Along with light weight Scorpion LAV's (Skorpion-2MB and Skorpion-2M) and Gaz-3927 Volk if it'll pass the state tests which should end next year.
Seems like a rip-off of the panther patrol vehicle the UK has but I might change my mind when I see the performance specs.
ReplyDeletethe Iveco? sorry but that vehicle has not impressed. even the Russians are using it now and it appears to be more utility than combat vehicle.
